How to automate manufacturing projects with BPMN and AI

Where do human workers fit with the industry 4.0 transition?

What if we could map out each manufacturing process, execute that process in software and have it delegate tasks to operators to complete through a simple automated task list user interface?

What if resolution actions for failed tasks could be monitored and stored in case of future events so that even an inexperienced operator could resolve them?

In industry, the integration of systems and machines has been going on for a long time and has been through many technological advancements. Perhaps the most important, would be artificial intelligence (AI) being introduced and more widely used as a driving force behind process automation.

The next step is the integration of human workers which can be done through business process modelling notation (BPMN).

Business process modelling notation (BPMN) provides a solid framework for digital transformation and it is useful method to set up a system to execute a process, assign tasks, and automate system integration based on a human readable design.

Business process automation can be brought about by integrating machine learning models (AI) with BPM platforms. For instance, data can be collected by performing the same task continuously and in turn, that data can be used to update automation models dynamically. As time goes, the AI being used can adjust itself accordingly to improve the quality of its work.

An additional way in which AI can be utilized is by taking machine learning models and reusing them for processes with similar sets of data.

AI will become essential. Every single industry will be changed by AI, but in different ways and on different timelines.
